So, after all that testing, how do I feel about this media? .....I guess I feel "ok" The fact is, this media is really not that great where quality is concerned, but when it comes down to it, you don't really buy black bottomed CD-Rs for archiving your most important documents either. These discs are designed to look cool, and appeal visually, and in that, they do a very good job. So, although I wouldn't personally use these discs, and wouldn't recommend them for storing anything important... well, they could be a lot worse! Technically Speaking: Technically speaking, regardless of the less then perfect scoring, these are still the best black bottomed CD-Rs I've tested... and in a way, that's kind of sad! The best advice I can give is not to burn these discs with anything LiteON related (which means most Sony brand CD burners as well!) According to the tests that I performed on this media: The optimal write speed on the Plextor Premium is 8x Speeds to avoid on the Plextor Premium: None The optimal write speed on the LiteON 48125W is 8x Speeds to avoid on the LiteON 48125W: 24x-52x The optimal write speed on the LG - 8525B is 24x Speeds to avoid on the LG - 8525B: None The Score: Plextor Premium: In combination with the Plextor Premium drive, I give this media an 7.0/10. LiteON 48125W: In combination with the LiteON 48125W drive, I give this media a 3.5/10. LG - 8525B: In combination with the LG - 8525B drive, I give this media a 7.5/10. note: I did not give the LiteON LDW-411s a score since it was only used in one test |
