CD #5 Burned @20x (Overclock Speed):

Similar to the Plextor Premium having no setting for 12x CD-R burning, the LiteON 48125W is not capable of burning CD-Rs at 20x, hence the lack of test for the drive. In order to accomplish this burn, I had to disable PowerRecord on the Plextor Premium, which is not generally a recommended thing. This is the first time I have dabbled with the option of burning CD-Rs at speeds above set by the CD Burner's firmware (Various drive manufacturers have different names for it, such as PowerRecord, SmartBurn...etc). As you can see, the quality of the burn was not that great, especially in the last two thirds of the disc. According to K-Probe, the whole disc was averaging approximately 25 C1 errors per sector, which is not what I would call a good score. On the other hand, this disc is completely usable. This raises the question of how fast can we *REALLY* burn this disc? I hope to answer this question in the following tests!

Well, due to those 2 large spikes of C2 errors on the graph, I think we now know that the LiteON 48125W is *NOT* very good at burning these discs above 16x! The Plextor Premium on the other hand is doing rather well considering the circumstances. I wouldn't recommend burning this media at 24x on Plextor drives, but it is nice to know that if you do, your disc should be 100% readable!

Due to the results from the disc burned on the LiteON 48125W in the previous test, I have decided to discontinue further LiteON overclock tests. The Plextor Premium however is continuing to show fairly decent results (considering how much faster these discs are being burned, beyond their limit!). Even at twice their maximum speed limit, these discs (when burned on the Plextor Premium) are still showing up as being 100% readable! Although the C1 error rate is higher then I would normally like, I still think that this is very impressive!
