What can I say...WOW! drop the writing speed one notch and there are no longer any unreadable blocks or C2 errors reported! If you ask me, these CD-Rs should be RE-CERTIFIED to no higher then 16x! Which still doesn't make these CDs good...but it almost makes them usable. However, this CD may not represent the average writing quality you can expect at this speed, since it is only 1 CD. Perhaps we will get a better idea of their overall performance in the up coming tests...   |

We are now burning this CD-R at 12x only, and the results have just entered into my "usable" range. This means no unreadable blocks or C2 errors were reported. However, given this CDs past performance, I still wouldn't trust it to keep these results up on a regular basis, or survive more then a couple years at best.   |

As with at 12x, this CD-R has no reported unreadable blocks or C2 errors. I should also mention that any CD-R that I make for personal use that doesn't score at LEAST this good, I immediately throw out. It is unfortunate that I would have to reduce the CD-R to 1/3 it's "certified" writing speed in order for it to be up to my personal standards.   |

Oddly enough, the quality of the burns went down when I wrote the CD-R at 4x. This surprised me quite a bit given the last couple of tests I performed. Still, no C2 errors were reported by CD Doctor, but Nero CD Speed detected some damaged blocks. This means that the C1 errors were so high in certain areas it caused some problems in reading the CD, however, it was not an unrecoverable error. Now, on to the conclusion!   |
