CD #1 Burned @24x:

As you can see, this CD-R performed fairly well on the low speed test, but became completely unstable when tested at higher speeds! If you look carefully at the beginning of the high speed test graph, you will even see some (green coloured) unreadable sectors!! This is very bad performance from a disc burned at its' certified speed...

This disc performed completely differently from the first disc, and if you ignore the odd spike of C2 errors on both tests, this disc performed fairly well. It is unusual to see such a difference between CD-Rs of the same media type, but not unheard of. The question is: which tested CD-R better represents the average quality of this media type?

Again we see a poor performance from this media. If you look in the middle of the section of (red) C2 errors, you will again see a small spike of (green) unreadable sectors, just like in the first disc tested. I would have to say that given these results, it is likely that the first and third discs tested represent the average quality of this media type, whereas the second disc I tested was most likely an anomaly, and not the sort of quality you can expect from these CD-Rs.

Perhaps these discs will perform differently at lower speeds?
