So what's my personal opinion of this media? Well, it's good. This media is at least 3 years old, and quite likely as much as 5 years old, and it is still performing quite
well under most conditions. This media was made to perform well on burners no faster then 12x, and yet it performed very well even at 24x, and within reason at 32x. Would I
personally feel comfortable using this media? Yes, although I would probably burn it at 8x, since it had it's best results when burned at that speed. This media would not be
my first choice due to it's limited 74min capacity (and also because it is hard to find), but I wouldn't worry about using it if I had it either.
Technically Speaking:
Technically speaking, I'm really impressed. When I saw this media and noticed the "all speed" rating instead of a proper certification, I groaned. When I noticed that the
media was made for use in drives made around August of 2000, I groaned yet again. However, despite my expectations, this media surpassed its' original specifications and
excelled at speeds of up to 32x without any detrimental effects, although pushing these discs to 40x will likely result in file loss. An odd note about this media is that
it performs very well at the speeds of 4x, 8x, 12x, and 24x, but when the media is burned at 16x or 32x it does not do nearly as well on the high speed tests.
The Score:
I give this media an 8.5/10. Unfortunately, since it had no designated certified speed, I ended up choosing 16x for
my "certified speed" tests, but later on when I checked out the dates that different burners came out, it became apparent that 8x or at most 12x should have been chosen
instead. This was taken into account in my final scoring, as was the discs performance at other speeds more common in today's world.
