CD #4 Burned @40x:
Tested @8x
Tested @40x

Is it possible to feel sorry for a CD-R? This media was manufactured for use in drives with a burn speed of 12x or 16x tops, and here I am pushing it to 40x!! It should come as no surprise to learn that this disc failed Nero Burning Rom's verification process after the burn, and in fact, 2 files were completely unreadable according to Nero CD Speed's Scan Disc test. As you can see, this disc exhibits both a large amount of C1 errors, and even C2 errors on both the low speed and high speed tests! I think it is safe to say that burning this media at 40x is not a good idea!

I am greatly impressed by the leap in quality between this disc, and the disc burned at 40x (see above). Here we have a disc that is very similar to the initial discs I tested that were burned at 16x! This disc scores very well on the low speed test, but not quite as well on the high speed test, however the file structure remains completely intact in both high speed and low speed situations.

Wow! This is the first time that a disc scored quite well on *both* the low speed and the high speed tests! I find it interesting that we are seeing a better performance from this media type when it is burned at 24x then when it is burned at 16x, even though these discs were made for use on burners from the year 2000! That being said, let's see how these discs perform when burned at the speeds most commonly used back in those days (12x, 8x and 4x).
